No one wants a stinky pup snuggling on their fresh sheets, right?
Grooming goes beyond simply making your pet look adorable or smell fresh—it’s essential for their overall health and well-being. Consider how often your dog visits the vet compared to their trips to the groomer. Groomers are often the first to spot skin conditions or other health concerns. At The Top Knot Pet Grooming & Atelier, we’ve uncovered numerous issues that owners were unaware of, ranging from minor irritations to more serious conditions. Identifying these early brings peace of mind, allowing you to address concerns before they escalate and ensuring your pet stays happy and healthy.
So what exactly happens during a grooming session, and how can you make sure your pet is ready for their spa day?

Our Grooming Packages: What’s Included?
We offer two main grooming options: a full grooming service with a haircut or a bath and tidy package without the haircut. Both include the basics—like trimming the feet, tail, and face—but if you’re going for the full cut, we’ll also assess your pet’s coat to find the best style. For our regulars, we start with a bath to ensure a clean slate before the haircut.
The Essentials: What We Do Every Time
Nail Trimming: Keeping those nails trimmed isn’t just about avoiding scratches—it improves your dog’s comfort, posture, and helps prevent injury. For homes with little ones or elderly folks, we can file the nails to remove any sharp edges for an extra cost. And trust us, this is a job best left to the pros!
Ear Cleaning: Clean ears are happy ears. We use special tools and solutions to get rid of wax and debris, and we might even trim some hair for better airflow—bye-bye, ear infections!
Paw Pad Shaving: If your pup’s paws are looking a little too fluffy, we trim the hair inside the pads to give them better traction and avoid slips. This is especially great for dogs with yeasty paws or those needing medicated balms.
Sanitary Clipping: No one wants a messy backside. We trim around your dog’s sanitary area to keep things clean and prevent any icky buildup. Sensitive skin? We’ll use a longer blade for comfort, but if they’re not groomed regularly, they might feel a bit breezy back there!
Tidying Up: Following the bath and drying process, it is common for some untidy hair to be present around the face and paws. We will carefully trim the edges of the paws and around their mouth and eyes to achieve a refined look.
Accessorizing & Cologne: Time to add a little flair! We finish up with a cute accessory—think bows or bandanas—and a spritz of pet-safe cologne. Your dog will be strutting out of here looking and smelling fabulous, ready to turn heads as soon as you step out of this salon. Don't be too surprised if anyone asks you where you got your dog groomed!
Prepping Your Pup: How to Make It Easy
To ensure a smooth grooming session, start by giving your dog a good brushing at home. Make sure a metal comb will go through the coat. This helps remove any tangles or mats (because de-matting isn’t included and will cost extra or matted areas will be shaved). Let us know about any medical conditions, skin issues, or special needs your pet has so we can give them the best care.

Let’s face it—grooming isn’t just a luxury, it’s a lifestyle! Beyond keeping your pet Instagram-ready, regular grooming is a vital part of their health and happiness. From silky-smooth fur to healthy skin and nails, grooming is like a full-body makeover that your pet deserves. Plus, it’s the ultimate secret weapon in catching any health issues before they sneak up on you. Whether it’s your dog’s first spa day or they’re a seasoned pro, regular grooming will have them strutting out of the salon with confidence, looking fresh, smelling delightful, and feeling on top of the world!
